Eden Alternative

Settlers Ridge Care Center is proud to be one of only three communities in Texas on the Eden Alternative Registry. Our community consists of several neighborhoods that surround a beautiful courtyard. The courtyard has fruit trees, a gazebo, a beautiful water fountain sculpture, along with bunnies and an African turtle. Life happens daily in the courtyard with barbeques on the grill in the summer and snowball fun in the winter. The courtyard is a great everyday gathering place for family and friends. We are located minutes from the McKinney/Frisco/Plano area in a rural country setting in North Texas. Our journey includes communities that work together to form deep and lasting relationships between caregivers, Elders and families. The Elders are empowered to make their own choices, just as they did when they were at home. They choose when to eat, what to eat, when they sleep and when they wake; all the normal decisions that we sometimes take for granted. Mary, one of our Elders, summed it up best saying “Everyone thinks when you go to a nursing home you are going to die, when I came here, I found that I was enjoying life again.” We understand that implementing the Eden Alternative is a journey, not a destination, and it is never-ending.
